Lara Gehring is one of the U.S. National Training team’s youngest athletes, graduating from Glenbrook South High in 2009.
She started speedskating 10 years ago. After watching it the first time, she was fascinated and knew immediately that this would be one of her lifelong passions. In 2004, she made both the Junior Short and Long Track teams at the young age of 14.
Gehring was the 2008 U.S. Junior Short Track Champion and traveled to Sherbrooke, Canada to compete at the World Junior Championships.
Gehring competed in the 2008-09 World Cup season and was part of the gold-medal winning women’s relay team during World Cup 6. She also helped the women win an overall bronze medal at the 2009 World Short Track Team Championships. Owns 500m American junior record.
Beyond her busy training schedule, she enjoys water skiing, wakeboarding and trying new things.
